Founded in 2009, African Youth & Community Organization (AYCO) is a culturally specific, community-based nonprofit organization led by and for the East African immigrant and refugee community in the Portland Metropolitan Area.
Our programs are strength-based and trauma-informed and fall into
three main categories: UPLIFT Youth Services, BRIDGE Health & Disability, and Community Engagement. AYCO UPLIFT youth participate in virtual academic support, safe and distanced athletic programs, and culturally specific virtual mentorship. Efforts to develop leadership and strengthen cultural identity are incorporated into all of our activities.
