The Oregon Youth Resource Map (OYRM) was created to help young people ages 16–25, along with their allies and support networks, connect with youth-serving resources, organizations, and leadership opportunities across Oregon. Centered on youth voices and experiences, the map includes resources related to mental and behavioral health, physical health care, housing, education, employment, community connection, and overall wellness.
The OYRM began as a project focused on improving access to mental health services for transition-age youth and has since expanded to support broader health and wellness needs for youth and young adults throughout the state.
Originally developed by young people with lived experience navigating mental health services and systems, the project emerged through Healthy Transitions Oregon, a federally funded initiative focused on improving services and outcomes for transition-age youth experiencing significant mental health challenges. This work was completed in collaboration with the Oregon Health Authority, Portland State University, Direction Service, the Mapping Action Collective, and Healthy Transitions youth and young adult leaders from across Oregon. We are deeply grateful for their leadership, insight, and contributions in creating this resource.
Following the conclusion of the federal grant, Direction Service remained committed to supporting youth access to services, supportive relationships, and community opportunities that foster self-discovery, independence, empowerment, and positive life outcomes. Today, this work continues through Direction Service’s Youth and Family Services program, including peer support, support groups, resource navigation, and Wraparound Youth Partner services. Ensuring access to meaningful supports and opportunities remains a critical part of this mission, and Direction Service continues to host and maintain the OYRM.
With financial support from The System of Care Advisory Council (SOCAC) and technical expertise and web development provided by UplinkSpyder, the Oregon Youth Resource Map was updated and relaunched in Spring 2026.
